The lawyer representing suspended Corrections Commissioner Jalesi Nakarawa has filed an application to subpoena the permanent secretary for Justice, Selina Kuruleca.

This was revealed during the tribunal hearing in Suva yesterday, where his lawyer, Simione Valenitabua, sought to have Ms Kuruleca take the stand and give her testimony.

Mr Valenitabua was given until 9am today to file his submission, after which the assisting lawyer to the tribunal, Juleen Fatiaki, is expected to respond by 11am.

The matter will be addressed at 2.30pm before the hearing continues with the State’s remaining four witnesses.
