The review of the State Lands Act 1945 and the Land Use Act 2010 has reached its final stage, with the Fiji Law Reform Commission submitting its report to the Attorney-General's Office.
The report was handed over today following nationwide public consultations, extensive research, stakeholder engagement and consultations with the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.
A copy of the report was also presented to the ministry.

Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga said the review of the two key pieces of legislation was an important step towards ensuring Fiji's legal framework remained relevant, fair and effective.
"Modernising our land laws can lead to greater clarity, equity and security for landowners, leaseholders and users, enabling us to better address current challenges and opportunities," Mr Turaga said.
Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimone Vosarogo said the review was necessary to ensure Fiji's land laws remained fit for purpose over the next 50 years.
"It has a multiplier effect. While it is designed to improve efficiency within the ministry and remove longstanding bottlenecks, its ultimate goal is to improve people's lives," Mr Vosarogo said.
The Attorney-General's Office will now review the final reports on the State Lands Act 1945 and the Land Use Act 2010, together with the draft Bills and accompanying Cabinet papers.
