A 33-year-old man who allegedly impersonated two senior Government officials has pleaded guilty to the charges.
Nishant Rahul Roy, 33, was charged with impersonating Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu and Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of identity theft before Resident Magistrate Vinti Prasad at the Nasinu Magistrate Court today.

The court heard that on September 29, Roy allegedly used two different Viber accounts to impersonate Mr Tudravu and Mr Prasad.
It is alleged that he sent messages through these accounts, requesting money from individuals while using the officials’ names and photographs.
Magistrate Prasad directed Police prosecution to outline the key elements of the offences. The prosecution requested additional time to amend the summary of facts.
In court, Roy raised concerns about his health, claiming he had not received proper medical attention while in custody.
He claimed in court that he suffered from asthma and that during his arrest officers had handled him harshly, causing his hands to bleed.
The case was adjourned to tomorrow.
