A 20-year-old man accused of rape has pleaded not guilty before the High Court in Suva.

Anav Nathan Goundar appeared before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull today, where he denied a rape charge allegedly committed at the University of the South Pacific (USP) car park.

The court heard the alleged offence took place on April 11, 2026, at the USP car park in Suva.

It is alleged that Goundar performed sexual acts on the complainant.

Justice Bull later granted bail with strict conditions.

The accused was warned to fully comply with all reporting requirements and court orders, including reporting to Valelevu Police Station every Saturday between 8am and 5pm.

The matter was adjourned to July 22 for further mention.
