Murder accused remains in custody as case returns to court
Prosecution plans to challenge proposed sureties put forward on behalf of the accused.

Murder accused Paula Caginicolo remains in custody after his case was called before the High Court in Lautoka on Tuesday.
He appeared before judge Justice Sunil Sharma.
Caginicolo, known TikToker is jointly charged with Meli Bavesi, 22, Suliasi Naikaimuri, 42, and Josivini Naisaucou, 20, in relation to the alleged death of Vilikesa Naicaba at Wairabetia, Lautoka, on May 14, 2026.

It is alleged that the four accused seriously assaulted Naicaba during a drinking party.
The court heard that an argument allegedly broke out between the accused and the deceased before Naicaba was struck with a piece of timber, causing him to lose consciousness.
Caginicolo was represented by Salvin Nand of S Nand Lawyers, while Emi Cabemaiwai appeared for the prosecution.
During proceedings, the court granted the defence seven days to file its response to the State's affidavit. The prosecution was given two days to file its affidavit.
The prosecution indicated it intended to challenge the proposed sureties put forward on behalf of Caginicolo. The court noted the objections.
A hearing date will be confirmed following the exchange of affidavits between the parties.
The court proposed a midweek hearing timetable, which was agreed to by both sides.
The matter will be heard on July 13, and a production order was issued for the accused.
