Prosecution opposes bail for TikToker charged with murder
Police deployed after relatives confront accused outside court.

The prosecution has opposed bail for murder accused Paula Caginicolo, citing concerns about his influence as a social media figure and the potential impact on community tensions.
Caginicolo, who is known on TikTok as Paul Steven, appeared before Magistrate Semi Babitu at the Lautoka Magistrate Court today.
He is charged with one count of murder over the alleged death of Vilikesa Naicaba.

Police alleged the accused seriously assaulted Naicaba during a drinking party in Wairabetia, Lautoka, on May 14.
The court heard the accused allegedly struck the deceased with a piece of timber following an argument.
During submissions, the prosecution argued the accused should remain in custody for his own protection and cited concerns over public reaction if bail was granted.
Tensions flared outside the court house after relatives of the murder victim allegedly attempted to assault the accused following his court appearance.
Police officers were deployed outside the courtroom to calm tensions as large groups from both families gathered during proceedings.
The prosecution also highlighted the seriousness of the offence and informed the court that three other suspects were allegedly involved in the incident.
Defence lawyer Salvin Nand argued the accused remained innocent until proven guilty and said the seriousness of the offence alone should not prevent bail.
He told the court there was no evidence his client would abscond or endanger the public if released.
The defence proposed strict bail conditions, including cash bail and two sureties.
Magistrate Babitu remanded the accused in custody and adjourned the matter to May 19 for a bail ruling.
