Senior police officer to call defence witness in bribery trial
Officer is charged with one count of bribery under the Crimes Act.

Senior police officer George Lagi will call a witness in his defence as he fights a bribery charge in the Suva Magistrate Court.
Lagi appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne today, where his lawyer, Joji Cakau, told the court the defence intended to call a witness to give evidence.
It is alleged that between October 1, 2012, and January 31, 2014, while serving with the Criminal Investigations Department, Lagi accepted $6,580 from Divindra Bhagat in relation to the performance of his duties as a Criminal Investigations Department officer.

The case was adjourned to August 19 for the defence witness to testify.
Lagi remains on bail.
