Suva man on cocaine import charge granted $5,000 bail
Magistrate sets strict conditions, including surrender of travel documents and a stop-departure order.

A manager of a mechanical company in Suva charged with importing cocaine has been released on $5,000 cash bail.
Shonal Shiv Nand was charged with allegedly importing 640.139 grams of cocaine last month.
He appeared before Resident Magistrate Vinaina Diroiroi at the Suva Magistrate Court today.

It is alleged that Nand picked up a package containing the drugs from DHL Services in Raiwaqa on October 30.
Magistrate Diroiroi released Nand on the following conditions:
- His two sureties are bonded for the same amount;
- He must reside at a fixed address;
- He must not leave Viti Levu without the court’s approval;
- He must not interfere with State witnesses;
- He must surrender all travel documents; and
- A stop-departure order has been issued.
The case has been adjourned to January 14, 2026, for plea.
