A school teacher who allegedly hit a Year Seven student at a zebra crossing in Delailabasa will spend another night in remand.
Saleshni Lata Singh appeared before Magistrate Amelia Vavadakua at the Labasa Magistrate Court today, charged with one count of dangerous driving and one count of reckless and negligent act.
She was represented by Sheenal Naidu of Kohli and Singh Lawyers.

It is alleged that Singh struck Vinayak Prasad on August 22, the last day of school, around 3pm while driving along the main road.
The student was airlifted to Colonial War Memorial Hospital the following day after sustaining injuries.
Ms Naidu filed a formal bail application for her client by midday, but Police Prosecutor Constable Vimleshwar Chand opposed it.
In her defence, Ms Naidu told the court that Singh has been in remand since last Friday, is a first-time offender, and is willing to surrender her driving licence and passport.
Magistrate Vavadakua noted that the application was made on the same day as Singh’s first appearance and asked the prosecution how much time was needed to respond. The prosecutor requested until tomorrow.
Singh was further remanded at Labasa Corrections Centre. The bail hearing continues tomorrow at 10am.
