TikToker pleads guilty over derogatory posts about Minister Tabuya

TikToker Lui Vuiberata, also known as “Xcon,” will know his fate next Friday after pleading guilty to making derogatory comments about Minister for Information Lynda Tabuya.
Vuiberata appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar at the High Court in Suva, where he entered his guilty plea.
The court heard that on September 14, 2025, Vuiberata posted hate speech, used vulgar language, and made derogatory comments about Ms Tabuya on TikTok.

The matter has been adjourned to 13 March, when the State is expected to present a summary of facts, followed by mitigation submissions before sentencing.
Vuiberata also faces another matter in the Suva Magistrate Court for allegedly breaching bail conditions set in the substantive case.
He faces three counts of breaching bail conditions for failing to surrender his travel documents, failing to deactivate his social media accounts, and continuing to post on TikTok.
The bail breach case will be called on 17 March. Vuiberata has been remanded in custody.
