Drug‑accused Zoe Maharaj pleaded not guilty to charges including drug possession and explosives possession before the Suva Magistrate Court.

She charged with one count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime, possession of breaking implements, and unlawful possession of explosives in Lami on February 13.

The matter was called before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa.

Police prosecutor Walter Taito told the court they had no further instructions at this stage.

The investigation file has been forwarded to the Lami Police Station for further assistance.

The prosecution confirmed there were no admissions made by Maharaj during her caution interview.

A Republic of Fiji Military Forces explosives officer is yet to provide a report or analysis on the alleged grenade.

Defence counsel sought bail. However, Magistrate Daurewa said he would exercise caution and required all relevant information before making a decision.

The court granted the prosecution 14 days to file and serve affidavits relating to both the substantive matter and the bail application.

The case has been adjourned to March 9 for substantive hearing and bail consideration.
