Don’t fall for fake messages, Police warn
Fiji Police urge vigilance as scammers impersonate officers on messaging apps to steal personal information.

The Fiji Police Force has issued a strong warning to members of the public to disregard any messages claiming to be from police officers that request personal information through messaging platforms.
In a public advisory, the force clarified that police officers will never contact individuals via Viber, WhatsApp, Messenger, Email, or any other messaging apps to request sensitive information such as PINs, One Time Passwords (OTPs), or to share suspicious links.

The warning comes amid concerns over fraudulent messages using the Fiji Police logo to deceive recipients into sharing personal data or downloading harmful attachments.
“We urge due diligence,” the statement read.
“Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown numbers claiming to be from the Fiji Police.”
The public is encouraged to verify any suspicious communication by contacting the National Police Command Centre on 9905 296.
The Fiji Police Force has reiterated its commitment to protecting the public from cyber-related scams and urges everyone to remain vigilant.
