Drunk youths allegedly assault government team in Cakaudrove
Six victims treated in hospital as police confirm arrests imminent following violent roadside attack.

The driver of a government vehicle was attempting to avoid a potential accident when it was allegedly attacked by a group of drunk youths in Vusasivo Village, Cakaudrove.
This was revealed in a Fiji Police media statement shared this morning.
Police investigators found that the potential accident was caused by one of the suspects, who was allegedly intoxicated and staggered onto the road.

"As a result, the government vehicle veered off the road.
Following the accident, a group of intoxicated youths approached the scene and allegedly physically assaulted the driver and passengers, and stole their personal belongings," the statement said.
Police confirmed that all six men were taken to Tukavesi Hospital, with two later transferred to Labasa Hospital for further treatment.
"As of this morning, only one of the victims remains in hospital in stable condition, while the other was discharged," police said.
Police have obtained the victims' statements and are now pursuing those involved in the attack. Arrests are expected soon.
Police confirmed they are currently pursuing a number of suspects alleged to be involved in the attack on government officials.
"An operations team from Savusavu has identified and is pursuing a number of suspects alleged to be involved in the attack on government officials in Vusasivo Village, Cakaudrove," the statement added.
Investigations continue.
