Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the untimely passing of Nadi doctor and social media influencer, Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya, is a tragic loss and a reminder of the need for tolerance and kindness.
“I am deeply saddened by the untimely passing of the late Dr Isireli Biumaitotoya, a well-known Nadi-based medical doctor and social media influencer,” Mr Rabuka said in a statement today.
Responding to questions about the circumstances of Dr Isireli's death, the Prime Minister stressed that violence against others because of their differences was unacceptable.

“I stressed that it is unchristian to go into violent reactions against somebody who differs from you. I believe all the other religions share the same values. You don’t go and offend or look down on someone who differs from you, whether in sexual orientation, physical condition or whatever reason, for that matter. To do so would be very unkind.”
Mr Rabuka recalled attending a human rights conference at Pacific Harbour where Dr Isireli had participated.
“A lot of people were uncomfortable with him but he contributed a lot in that conference,” he said.
Describing the situation as “very sad,” the Prime Minister offered his condolences to the family.
