318 Education Ministry staff to receive overdue salary arrears
He urged affected teachers to submit the required documentation, including appointment letters and confirmation of commencement dates from their heads of schools or District Education Officers.

The Ministry of Education has fast-tracked the payment of salary arrears for 318 staff, with the outstanding payments to be made through Pay 17 and Pay 18 after delays caused by administrative and compliance issues.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro said the delays were linked to ongoing internal and compliance processes required to ensure salaries were processed accurately and efficiently.
He urged affected teachers to submit the required documentation, including appointment letters and confirmation of commencement dates from their heads of schools or District Education Officers, to avoid further delays.
The Ministry said common issues identified during the processing of arrears included the absence of Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) registration certificates, missing bank details and delays in confirming officers' commencement dates by heads of schools or District Education Officers.
It said it had also carried out due diligence to ensure all appointments were properly formalised and supported by complete documentation.
"I wish to advise all teachers that they need to understand that all appointments are formally processed and signed by PS Education prior to reporting to schools. This should allow for smooth processing of their appointments in our HR Department and for processing of their pays," Mr Radrodro said.
The Minister acknowledged the commitment of teachers who continued working despite the delays.
He also acknowledged Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka's approval for the payment of the salary arrears and said the Ministry would continue to strengthen its expenditure controls.
Mr Radrodro thanked education stakeholders and teacher unions for their continued support, collaboration and understanding.
"I wish to assure all our MOE Staff that their welfare remains a priority for this Ministry. The arrears of salary payment is not only a financial recognition, but also a reaffirmation of the Coalition Government's appreciation for the critical roles in the lives of educating our children," he said.
