PM urges Year Eight students to embrace exams as a stepping stone to shaping Fiji’s future.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has extended his best wishes to 19,007 students sitting the Fiji Year Eight Certificate Examination across 717 centres today.
Mr Rabuka urged students to remember that their achievements are not only personal but also contribute to the nation’s progress.
“As you open the next chapter of your education journey, this examination tests how much you have internalised and can express in writing,” Mr Rabuka said.

Last Friday, the Ministry of Education held a national external examination dedication service at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. Introduced in 2024, the service aims to uplift students, teachers, and families in prayer while emphasising the nation’s shared role in supporting children during this critical period.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro highlighted the importance of confidence, discipline, and health during the exams. In 2024, 18,973 students sat the Year Eight exams, achieving a record 69 per cent pass rate.
This year’s exams will end on Wednesday.
