For Taukimafi Vaea, Fiji has become a second home, a place where he feels the warmth of unity and love.

Originally from Nanumea, Tuvalu, with maternal ties to Nukufetau, the Suva Grammar School Year 13 student shared how his academic year was filled with challenges, but his faith kept him strong.

He joined more than 130 graduates yesterday and was awarded the top prize for Accounting.

“Most of the time, it was hard trying to balance academics, sports, and even family problems at home,” he said.

“But in the end, I put it all in the strength of our God, our Almighty Father in heaven. He gave me strength for everything I did throughout this year.”

“It’s a beautiful place here at Grammar,” he said with a smile. “Everyone’s friendly. Even people from different races live together in peace, faith, and love.”

With his family by his side in Suva, Taukimafi said their support was key to his success. He proudly dedicated his award to his parents.

“I dedicate this award to my mom and dad, who’ve been supporting me from day one,” he said.

Looking ahead, Taukimafi has his eyes set on further studies abroad.

“For university, I’m applying to schools in Australia and New Zealand,” he said. “I want to become an accountant or an auditor because it’s my dream.”

Before leaving, he shared a message of encouragement to other students, both at Suva Grammar and back home in Tuvalu.

“To all students, keep going no matter what. Put all your faith in God; strength comes from Him,” he said.
