256 booking for speeding in 48 hours

14 arrests were made for drunk driving

The Fiji Police Force has revealed worrying figures of drunk drive and speeding recorded in the last 48 hours.

In a statement by Fiji Police, 256 bookings were recorded for speeding, while 14 arrests were made for drunk and drive.

Police said these are "worrying figures considering the fact that drunk driving and speeding are the leading causes of road fatalities."

In their festive season message to the public, Police said they will continue to increase its presence on the roads to ensure that it's safe for everyone.

"For the Fiji Police Force, its business as usual and this time of year allows us to view it from a unique perspective.

"We are watching, we are visiting, we are assisting and we are listening to whatever you want to tell us.

"The only message we want to tell you is that "Your Life Matters and your Safety should be Paramount."

"2025 has certainly gone by quickly, and as we near the end of the year, through the many ups and downs, the Fiji Police Force will continue to thank you for your support."
