Biker Father Succumb To Injuries In Alleged Hit And Run
According to the Police, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is alleged to have jumped the red light at the Laucala Bay Road and Grantham Road junction and turned into Grantham Road.

A vehicle’s failure to stop at a red light has allegedly led to the death of a father of four, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash on January 22.
The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Makrava Sakaiasi, 43, of Vatuwaqa, Suva.
According to the Police, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is alleged to have jumped the red light at the Laucala Bay Road and Grantham Road junction and turned into Grantham Road.

The vehicle allegedly hit Mr Sakaiasi, who was on his motorcycle. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop. Mr Sakaiasi who sustained injuries was admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that Mr Sakaiasi succumbed to the injuries on Wednesday, January 29, a week after the accident.
Ms Naisoro said Police were investigating the matter and no charges had been laid yet.

Mr Sakaiasi is survived by his wife Patricia and their four children.
Neighbours at their Vatuwaqa home said Mr Sakaiasi’s wife was expecting their fifth child. Condolences have been pouring in for the family on social media with many requesting motorists to abide by the road rules, especially at traffic lights.
This is the second life to be lost on Fiji’s road this year.
