Centenarian Catholic nun Angela Cavey died yesterday morning in Suva.
The Sister of the Cluny, fondly known as Sister Angela, 101, had quietly celebrated her 101st birthday on January 25 this year.

St Joseph’s Secondary School (SJSS) manageress Sister Genevieve Loo while confirming her death, said the late Sister Angela’s resurrection mass and funeral was tentatively penciled for Tuesday March 6.
“We are finalising details right now with Tuesday temporarily marked for her mass and funeral,” Sister Genevieve said.
Sister Angela was born on January 25, 1917 in Dublin, Ireland.
On her 100th birthday, last year President Brigadier-General (Retd) Jioji Konrote and the First Lady had joined in the celebration.
She served in Fiji for 42 years as a secondary school teacher at the SJSS, a teacher helper at St Anne’s School (Maths & Literature), and was the SJSS school secretary assistant and community worker.
Sister Angela was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the SJSS multipurpose hall which took 37 years to complete. She was also the popular face at Nausori selling clothes on Saturdays to raise funds for the building of the multipurpose hall.
Sister Angela was also a primary and secondary school teacher, school secretary and community worker in West Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Cook Islands.
She had entered the St Joseph of Cluny Novitiate in Ferbane in 1936 at age 19 and after six-months of postulancy she was received as a novice on March 11, 1937.
She was the eldest of three sisters, her sister Geraldine died of tuberculosis at the age of 24 while her youngest sister Joyce died in 2015 aged 94.
