Child among three dead in latest road accidents, toll rises to 52

Three people, including a child, have died in separate road accidents over the past two days, pushing Fiji’s national road death toll to 52 — ten more than the same period last year.
Police said a 47-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl and a woman in her 30s were the latest victims.
The first accident occurred on the night of September 26 along Kings Road near Vitogo, Lautoka, when a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man collided with a truck while overtaking. The woman passenger later died of her injuries.

In Suva, a woman in her 30s died following an alleged hit-and-run on Stinson Parade last night. She was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are still searching for the driver.
