A Nadi family is demanding answers after their pet dog was brutally attacked and later died, just days after intruders allegedly entered their fully fenced compound and stole idols from their home temple.
Police have confirmed they attended to reports of both incidents last week.
Nadi resident Payal Narayan took to social media to express her frustration, saying the back-to-back incidents have left her family shaken and fearful.

Ms Narayan said the first incident occurred last week when someone allegedly entered their secured compound and stole idols from their family temple.
“We lodged a report at the Nadi Police Station later that day and were waiting for officers to attend to the matter,” she said.
She said the family routinely feeds their dogs, locks the gate and leaves for work each morning. However, when they returned home later that day, they discovered blood clots inside their garage.
“Later we realised someone had again entered our compound and attacked our dog, Benny,” she said.
Benny was rushed to Animals Fiji with severe injuries and later had one hind leg amputated. Despite treatment, Ms Narayan confirmed the dog died yesterday.
“He was fighting for his life after such an inhuman attack,” she said.
Ms Narayan said she contacted Nadi Police Station again to report the dog attack and was told officers would attend.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed yesterday that officers attended to both matters and that the reports were acknowledged by the complainant.
Meanwhile, Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Lawrence Kumar has called for timely police responses, saying community safety must be prioritised.
“I fear for the safety of families as well. If assistance is not timely, I will contact the Commissioner of Police directly,” Mr Kumar said.
“The safety of our members and residents is paramount.”
Police investigations into both incidents are continuing.
