She did not name the proposed parties.
The development comes as Fiji braces for both local government and general elections, with the first possible general election date as early as August 7, 2026.
To be registered, a political party must meet requirements under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.
Ms Mataiciwa also reminded Fijians that voter registration remains open and continuous, with more than 6,000 people already registered for the local government elections at municipal offices.
Mobile teams are also visiting communities within municipal boundaries.
“It’s a continuous registration, so we’ll definitely capture for both,” she said, referring to both the local government and general elections.
