Acting Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica delivered a strong message to those involved in temple vandalism, declaring that Fiji has no tolerance for such acts.

Speaking at the Hindu Unity Gathering yesterday, Mr Kamikamica condemned recent acts of sacrilege against places of worship across the country.

“If you are one of those persons that believe in those acts, Fiji is not a place for you,” Mr Kamikamica said.

He assured the Hindu community that the Government would work hard to unite the country and protect all citizens' rights to worship freely.

“I would like to reassure all of you that we will work very hard, to unite us as a country, because all of us have a stake in this country. All of us belong here,” he said.

The Acting Prime Minister’s comments follow several incidents of temple vandalism, including recent attacks on Hindu places of worship in Suva and other areas.

Mr Kamikamica stressed the Government’s commitment to religious tolerance and unity among all communities.

He spoke on behalf of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who is currently visiting India, and the Coalition government stating there was zero tolerance for attacks on religious sites.

Mr Kamikamica called the gathering a nation-building initiative aimed at restoring social trust and promoting reconciliation across communities.

He said the meeting was designed to bridge divides and help rebuild a united Fiji where all citizens could live peacefully and prosperously.

“For far too long, we have misunderstood each other. And perhaps today is a beginning that will not only see the rebuilding of a new Fiji, but more importantly, the rebuilding of a united Fiji,” Mr Kamikamica said.
