Fiji Sun team scooped seven awards at the FAME Awards 2025 held at Novotel, Lami.

Fiji Sun dominated the Fiji Awards for Media Excellence (FAME) last night, after the news publisher walked away with seven awards.

The seven awards are :-

  • Best Print Article - Ivamere Nataro
  • Best Print Advertising - Gaurav Tyagi
  • Best Commentary, Analysis or Critic - Naisa Koroi
  • Young Journalist of the Year - Iowane Asioli
  • Best Business Journalism - Waisea Nasokia
  • Best News Photography - Ronald Kumar
  • Best Sports Photography - Leon Lord

Fiji Sun's acting publisher/chief executive officer Rosi Doviverata said it was a proud moment for the team.

"These awards are a testament to the hard work, commitment and passion of our newsroom. It also reflects the effort of everyone across the organisation - from advertising, finance, production and circulation - they all play a vital role in ensuring we deliver credible, timely and meaningful journalism."

She said the recognition encouraged them to continue raising the bar and serve their audiences with integrity.

Ms Doviverata also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Fiji Sun Board.

"This achievements does not just belong to the Fiji Sun, but to everyone who believes in the importance of a strong, independent and responsible media.

“Our commitment is to keep growing, keep experimenting and keep delivering journalism that matters to the people of Fiji.”

For many journalists, the return of the FAME Awards was more than a celebration of good reporting. It was a moment of healing.

Ms Doviverata who is also the president of the Fijian Media Association described the night as a return not just of awards, but of confidence and pride.

“Tonight is special. This is not just the return of an awards night, it is a return of confidence, a return of pride, a return to excellence,” she said.

She also highlighted the growing presence of women in Fiji’s media.

“Women in media are no longer waiting for permission. You belong here. Your voice is needed here,” Ms Doviverata said.

Fiji Media Association general secretary, Stanley Simpson reflected on the struggles of the past 17 years.
“The Fiji media walked through intense fires. We survived censorship, fear, and danger. But we did not stop. We did not bow. We did not break,” he said, urging young journalists to honour these sacrifices.

“Please don’t take this freedom for granted. Use it well,” he added.
