Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Major- General Ro Jone Kalouniwai say the RFMF is exploring safer routes for our troops leaving Fiji for peacekeeping duties in Sinai throughout this week.

This is amid the Israel-Hamas war that continue to claim lives of innocent people daily.

At least 4385 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7, the territory’s Health Ministry has announced.

According to the report, 1756 children and 967 women were among these deaths.

At least 13,561 people have been injured in Gaza, relentlessly bombarded in retaliation for the Hamas attack on Israeli soil.

Major General Kalouniwai said Fijian troops in Syria were all safe and okay.

“Their mission provides evacuation plans and they have their level of security that they will follow that will determine if they have to evacuate or not. They have their evacuation procedures.”

He said the safety procedures were on the safety of troops leaving Fiji this week for Sinai.

“The Fijian troops that are leaving right now are going across to Egypt, to Sinai.
