Seema a film directed by British-born, Fiji and international human rights lawyer, Sabrina Khan, works as an art form to illuminate certain social issues and inspire change.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical call to action in Proverbs 31:8, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves”, Seema delves into the complex reality of domestic violence.

The film, a personal project for Ms Khan, who herself is a survivor of domestic violence, serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness on the serious issue.

The movie presents a portrayal of the impact of domestic violence, drawing attention to the statistics of the crisis.

“Domestic violence statistics have gotten worse for women. I believe we can’t create enough awareness because it’s getting worse globally,” said Ms Khan.

Ms Khan also hoped the film would spark crucial conversations, raise awareness on a global scale, and contribute to breaking the cycle of violence.

Filmed in Parramatta, Sydney, Australia, Seema’s cast includes lead actress Reena Shah and Australian actor Morrison James.
