The freak accident at Tabia in Labasa left some passengers injured without any deaths on August 16, 2025.

It was a lucky escape for drivers and passengers after two vans collided head-on at Tabia in Labasa on Saturday night.
Divisional Police Commander North, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kemueli Baledrokadroka, confirmed the incident, saying there were injuries but no fatalities.
“The accident involved two high-raised vans. I have to check with Northern Command to confirm the cause of the crash and the extent of injuries,” SSP Baledrokadroka said. He urged motorists to drive at safe speeds and prioritise the safety of passengers.

Labasa Taxi Association general secretary, Sujit Sharma, also reminded drivers to follow all road rules, saying public service vehicle drivers must set the standard for safe driving.
“We must set an example of safe driving at all times,” Mr Sharma said.
