Man, 22, charged with murder of teen found in park

A 22-year-old man will be produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court today, April 24, 2026, charged with one count of murder following the death of an 18-year-old woman in Lautoka.

Police said the victim was found lying motionless in a park on December 5, 2025. She was later identified as an 18-year-old woman of Rifle Range.

Following a post-mortem examination, the case was classified as murder.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Lautoka charged the man after consulting the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Police said the charge was laid after new forensic evidence emerged.

The accused is expected to appear in court today.
