Midshipman Andrews Urges Young Women To Join Defence Force

Midshipman Jessica Andrews said she always wanted to join the Navy because she enjoyed travelling, meeting new people and seeing the world from a different perspective

The 18-year-old from Wellington, New Zealand was onboard the HM­NZS Canterbury, which had been in Fiji from last week.

Ms Andrews was one of the 300 New Zealand Defence Force person­nel onboard.

She acknowl­edged that the defence forces were typically male-dominat­ed, but she was quick to encour­age young women not to shy away from this field of work.
