Nadi Town Council chief executive officer, Muni Gopal Reddy said the Council had already tendered the replacement of Terminal B’s roof, alongside seating renovations, public convenience upgrades and a fresh coat of paint.
“Once both terminals are complete, focus will shift to the renovation of public toilets at the Nadi Market and the beautification of the market exterior,” Mr Reddy said.
The council is tackling each project in phases, ensuring full attention is given to one task before moving on to the next.
“This structured approach aims to deliver quality and sustainable upgrades for Nadi’s rapidly growing population and its significant tourist traffic.”
“The upgrades are not only about aesthetics but safety and sanitation which is vital for a town known as Fiji’s tourism gateway,” he said.
With growing commuter and tourist demand, stakeholders are urging similar investments across the country. Mr Reddy said these efforts signalled a national need for urban renewal in major towns, especially at transport hubs.
The council’s systematic phased development model could serve as a template for other municipalities. Mr Reddy stressed the importance of community support, calling on citizens to respect the newly built infrastructure and discourage vandalism.
“We need community support and public support to ensure that our towns are clean and safe,” he said.
