Fiji Navy Rescue: 3 Safe After Boat Runs Out Of Fuel

RFNS Kikau was tasked at around 2345h last night and managed to find the distressed sailors at around 0100h this morning.

The RFNS Kikau early this morning located 3 seafarers on board a fibreglass boat.

They were on their way to Kadavu from Suva. They had run out of fuel and had drifted towards the reefs at Beqa.

At around 11pm last night, the Fiji Police Force received a distress call from the passengers on board the fibreglass boat. This was relayed to the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre.

Mariners are advised to take heed of weather warnings and to plan their trip well with sufficient fuel when traveling to sea.

Always carry a portable radio and a fully charged phone.

This is the 64th case assisted by the FMSRCC for 2019.
