The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) says it is awaiting the completion of key police investigations before deciding its position in the case involving Police Constable Peniasi Racagi, who was found dead near Lami Bay while on official duty in February this year.

In a statement, the ODPP said it was waiting for the post-mortem report and DNA evidence, which had been sent to Australia for testing.

"We are awaiting further investigations from police, in particular the post mortem report and DNA evidence which was sent to Australia for testing. Once further investigations are completed, we can confirm our position in the matter."

Police Constable Racagi, 24, was found dead near Lami Bay in February while on official duty.

The ODPP said it would confirm its position once the outstanding investigations had been completed.

In a separate matter, Ms Tikoisuva confirmed that the ODPP has completed its review of investigation files relating to the alleged corrupt practices involving 11 senior Fiji Police Force officers.

The investigation was launched after screenshots of alleged Viber conversations involving the officers were circulated on social media, purporting to show discussions about interfering with or influencing an ongoing police investigation, raising allegations of misconduct.

Ms Tikoisuva said the review has now been completed, and the matter is awaiting a final decision.
