Director of Public Prosecutions Nancy Tikoisuva has confirmed that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has received the Police investigation file relating to the death of Police Constable Peniasi Racagi.
The development comes after Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu accepted full responsibility for delays by the Fiji Police Force in submitting key documents to prosecutors, resulting in the withdrawal of charges against two men accused in the case.
The accused, Keni Salawai, 42, and Jope Seniloli, 20, had appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar in the High Court in Suva before the case was discontinued last Friday.

“The ODPP confirms that we have received the police docket in relation to Lami Police Officer’s death,” Ms Tikoisuva said.
“It will go through the review process according to the ODPP standard procedure before any decision is made.”
Police Constable Racagi, 24, was found dead near Lami bay in February this year while on official duty.
Police said pending investigation reports and relevant expert findings would be resubmitted together with the investigation file into the alleged involvement of police officers to allow the ODPP to review all evidence before independent legal advice is issued.
