Police arrest driver over near-hit, alleged $5 bribe
He was arrested and taken into custody. Investigations continue.

A man who allegedly tried to beat early morning traffic on Thursday, February 12, is now facing an additional charge of bribery after he nearly struck a police officer on traffic duty.
Police said the suspect failed to stop at the Matanikorovatu traffic lights as directed, almost causing an accident that could have injured the officer conducting point duty.
The driver was stopped by the same officer and asked to produce his driver’s licence.

It is alleged that he handed over the licence with a folded $5 note underneath and urged the officer to take the money.
He was arrested and taken into custody.
