Police have arrested a man who allegedly threatened officers over cocaine seized during the Vatia drug bust.

The arrest follows the circulation of a video on social media in which the man is alleged to have demanded the return of the drugs and threatened violence if they were not released.

In the video, he is alleged to have threatened to shoot people from Lautoka through to the Ba Police Station.

Police said the suspect is alleged to have associations with individuals facing drug-related charges, a matter that remains under investigation.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed the arrest.

“The suspect is in police custody,” Sgt Bautolu said.

Police have not released further details at this stage, but investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Authorities have again warned the public that making threats or sharing content that incites violence is a serious offence and will be dealt with under the law.
