Police have confirmed that 12 cases linked to the Commission of Inquiry (COI) are currently under investigation, including fresh allegations against a senior COI official.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said six files are now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for legal advice, five remain under active investigation, while one case has been closed due to lack of evidence.
The case that was filed related to a 2024 complaint against the former FICAC Commissioner, who was accused of leaking confidential voter registration information. The ODPP reviewed the file and ruled there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Of the six cases awaiting legal advice, two were lodged in 2024 while four were submitted this year.
Police said the 2025 reports involve allegations of abuse of office, obstruction, and perverting the course of justice.
Three of the five ongoing cases were lodged after the COI hearings began, including the most recent complaint against a senior COI official.
Police stressed that because the cases are of national interest, CID investigators are taking extra care to ensure thorough investigations before files are sent to the DPP’s office.
