Police recover stolen fishing gear in Savusavu

Police in Savusavu have recovered stolen fishing gear belonging to visiting fishing influencer Ruben Fischnaller, following a report earlier this week.
Mr Fischnaller, who is widely known on social media, had posted a video saying his equipment was stolen after he left it at a fishing spot and travelled into Savusavu Town.
When he returned, the items were missing and he lodged a report at Savusavu Police Station.

Mr Fischnaller thanked Police and the community for their support after the items were recovered on Thursday.
“I was really sad but now I am thankful to the Police officers in Savusavu for attending to my report,” he said.
“They worked day and night and I also would like to thank the Savusavu community for your support. Yes indeed this shows the people in Fiji works together.”
Police spokesman Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed the report was received this week.
“Our appreciation goes out to the Savusavu community in assisting their Police officers with the above recovery,” he said.
Savusavu Chamber of Commerce president Avikash Pillay also acknowledged the joint effort.
“We want people to continue to feel safe in Savusavu and enjoy the beautiful environment,” Mr Pillay said.
“Such kind of collaboration between Police and the Savusavu community is highly commendable.”
