The Fiji Police Force has been advised to carry out further investigations into a case alleging the involvement of suspended Director of Immigration Amelia Komaisavai and several staff members.

The matter relates to the alleged unlawful issuance of Fijian passports in 2024 to children linked to the Grace Road Group.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed the case file was sent back to the Criminal Investigations Department last month with recommendations for further inquiries.

The issue surfaced after then Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Pio Tikoduadua alleged that passports had been issued to children of Grace Road members without his knowledge, or that of the Permanent Secretary for Immigration and senior department management.

Komaisavai previously served as Acting Director in 2021 and was the first woman to hold the role.

The number of staff allegedly implicated has not been confirmed. However, this newspaper understands Komaisavai is currently suspended on full pay pending the outcome of investigations.
