A Suva Police team will investigate the death of Jone Rusiate in a Labasa traffic accident, Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has authorised it after studying the initial report.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Brigadier-General Qiliho was aware of the incident, which involved the death of Mr Rusiate in Nasikasika, Labasa, last Sunday.

He had already directed the Chief of Investigations and Intelligence for a team from Criminal Investigation Department headquarters, Suva, to conduct the investigation after the analysis of the initial incident report.

It also followed a complaint lodged by Labasa lawyer, Sushil Sharma, of Sushil Sharma Lawyers. He is representing Jawahir Lal and Chote Lal (brothers), who were allegedly believed to be at the scene.

He said he had written a letter requesting for an independent investigation team outside of Labasa and security provided to his clients.
