Schools across Fiji to close tomorrow amid flood warnings
Heads of Schools and School Management Committees are advised to ensure that their schools are secure.

The Ministry of Education has announced that all schools across Fiji will be closed tomorrow, Monday, 2 March 2026, following reports of heavy rain and widespread flooding.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro, in consultation with the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO), said the decision was made to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and school communities. Assessments from District Education Offices informed the closure.
Heads of Schools (HOS), teachers, and School Management Committees (SMCs) have been advised to stay in contact with their respective Management Committees and District Education Offices for updates. They are also reminded to secure their school premises during this period.

Parents and guardians are urged to keep children at home, avoid unnecessary travel, and refrain from crossing flooded roads, creeks, or rivers. Swimming in rivers or flood-affected areas is strongly discouraged.
The Ministry’s Disaster Risk Reduction Unit will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates. Minister Radrodro emphasised that the safety and welfare of students remain the Ministry’s top priority, and advised the public to follow official weather and safety advisories.
