Three young women believed to be victims of suspected human and sex trafficking have been moved to a safe house, while a report has been submitted to Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu.

Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua and Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai confirmed the developments yesterday.

The Fiji Sun reported last week that the three women, aged 18, 19 and 20, were under the protection of the RFMF amid concerns they could face intimidation and victimisation.

They had been sheltered at the RFMF Joint Task Force Command at Blackrock Camp in Nadi.

"I'm informed that they're at the safe house today (yesterday)," Mr Tikoduadua said.

He said the matter had been referred to the Fiji Police Force and the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection.

Major-General Kalouniwai said the RFMF had completed the required documentation and submitted its report to Police.

"When we brought them in, there was some documentation that was required from our side and that has been completed. We have submitted our report to the Commissioner and he has received it," he said.

Major-General Kalouniwai said the women had identified the names of the suspected human traffickers and that Police were now leading the investigation.
