Malolo hopes to lift performance

Defending Skipper Cup champions Malolo will look to improve their discipline and tighten their defensive line as they face Navosa at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday.

“We gave away a lot of penalties because of our discipline, and we also missed a lot of tackles as well,” he said.

“We need to improve on those areas so we can put on a better performance against Navosa.”

Kurisau dedicated the win to their families and supporters. He praised his players for putting their bodies on the line and playing right to the final whistle.

“I thank our fans for their support, and I urge them to continue their support in the competition."

Both teams were scoreless at halftime, Kurisau said their coach had advised them to stick to their game plan.

“He (coach) told us to follow our patterns and avoid repeating our mistakes from round one,” he said.

Malolo has earned back-to-back wins against newcomers Taveuni and Rewa.

“We were glad to have Fiji Under-20 full-back Tevita Ledua and Fiji men’s sevens player Douglas Daveta back in the team, as they bring a wealth of experience as well,” he said.

“They understand to how we play, and we hope they can contribute to the team’s success this season.”
