Suva's acting CEO tops salary list
The report clarified that acting CEO salaries for these councils are calculated by adding 95 per cent of the difference between the Special Administrator's salary and the CEO's base salary.

Tevita Boseiwaqa, the acting chief executive officer (CEO) of Suva City Council, has been revealed as the highest-paid municipal leader in Fiji, according to salary disclosures made in Parliament by the Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa.
Mr Boseiwaqa's annual salary stands at $159,386; a figure determined by the Higher Salaries Commission.
This revelation came as part of an update on the salaries of acting CEOs across various municipal councils in Fiji, following a written question in Parliament.

Suva City Council, along with Nasinu Town Council and Tavua Town Council, currently operates under special administrators, who are temporarily serving as acting CEOs.
The report clarified that acting CEO salaries for these councils are calculated by adding 95 per cent of the difference between the Special Administrator's salary and the CEO's base salary.
According to the update, the acting CEO of Nasinu Town Council, Felix Magnus, receives an annual salary of $79,549.80, while Tavua Town Council's acting CEO, Sireli Korovulavula, is currently on a $12,000 annual allowance, pending approval from the Higher Salaries Commission for his full salary.
In total, the three councils are spending $183,055.66 on acting CEO salaries, with an additional $26,252 allocated for allowances covering official vehicles, mobile phones, internet, and travel for official duties.
Mr Nalumisa also clarified that the positions of executive chairs, mentioned in previous questions, have not been created, as the ministry does not approve new positions within municipal council structures.
