The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Naval Division has launched its Strategic Plan 2035, known as The Headmark, setting the course for the country's maritime defence capabilities over the next decade.

The plan was launched today by RFMF Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff Brigadier General S Motufaga, who said it would guide the Navy's development as it responds to evolving maritime security challenges.

The Headmark provides a strategic framework focused on strengthening operations, developing personnel, enhancing capability and building stronger regional and international partnerships.

Aligned with Fiji's national security and development priorities, the plan recognises the close link between the country's maritime domain and its security, prosperity and way of life. It outlines a vision for a modern, adaptive and professional maritime force capable of meeting current and future challenges.

The strategy is built on four pillars — Maritime Security and Sovereignty, Our People, Enablers and Partnerships — which will guide investment in maritime surveillance, patrol and response operations, hydrography, logistics, infrastructure, training, maintenance, communications and emerging maritime technologies.

Brigadier General Motufaga commended Navy personnel for their service and urged them to maintain high standards of professionalism, operational readiness and continuous improvement.

He said The Headmark represented more than a policy document.

"It is a commitment to action, accountability and the long-term transformation of the Navy," he said.

The strategy builds on more than 50 years of naval service while positioning the force to meet the demands of an evolving security environment in the Pacific.

Guided by the values of Excellence, Honour, Commitment, Courage and Family, the Fiji Navy reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Fiji's sovereignty, supporting its people and safeguarding the nation's maritime future.
