'There is always hope' — PM reminds Fijians in Easter message
Mr Rabuka said Easter was not only a time of remembrance but also renewal, urging people to choose compassion, forgiveness and unity.

Fijians facing illness, hardship and personal struggles have been urged to hold on to hope this Easter.
In his Easter message, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka acknowledged the weight many are carrying and reminded them that support and faith remain within reach.
“And to those who are struggling—those facing illness, hardship, the weight of personal battles—please know this: you are not alone. There is always hope. There is always a way forward. Reach out, seek support, and hold on to faith.”

The message, themed on inclusivity, hope, reconciliation and unity, called on the nation to come together and move forward despite challenges.
Mr Rabuka said Easter was not only a time of remembrance but also renewal, urging people to choose compassion, forgiveness and unity.
“We choose to heal. We choose to move forward—together.”
He said even in difficult times, hope must not be lost.
“Even in the face of hardship, hope is never lost. That even in darkness, light will come.”
The Prime Minister also linked the message to the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, saying it offered a path for the country to confront its past and move forward with courage.
“This Easter is especially meaningful as the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission continues its work. It offers us a path—a path to confront our past with honesty, and to move forward with courage.”
Mr Rabuka urged Fijians to reject division and embrace shared values.
“Let us choose unity over division. Hope over despair. Love over fear.”
He said the future of the country rested on unity, service and community strength, particularly among young people.
“Together, we can build a Fiji that truly reflects the spirit of this sacred season—a nation at peace with itself, and filled with promise for generations to come.”
