Jone Vakarisi is believed to have released information before his death while in military custody at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua last week, according to a reliable source.
Mr Vakarisi was a person of interest to both the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the Fiji Police Force because of his alleged involvement in criminal networks that traffic illicit drugs, namely methamphetamine (ice).
Police had classified his death as murder, following a national security meeting by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua, RFMF Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai and Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu yesterday morning.
