Tropical Cyclone Hale Not A Threat: Fiji Meteorological Service

Tropical Cyclone (TC) Hale currently pose no direct threat to the Fiji Group.

TC Hale which was earlier detected as Tropical disturbance TD04F had intensified into a category 1 system and named Tropical Cyclone (TC) Hale around mid-morning yesterday.

According to Fiji Meteorological Service this was the first tropical cyclone to be named in the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) Area of Responsibility (AoR) during the 2022-2023 Tropical Cyclone Season.

Fiji Met says a moist northwesterly wind flow continues to prevail over the Fiji group.

Occasional showers and thunderstorms especially over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, the interior and western parts of Viti Levu [i.e. Greater Korolevu-

Sigatoka-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba- Tavua-Rakiraki Nadroga-Navosa], Northern Division and Kadavu.

Fiji Met says localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas, Rain has continuously affected the country in the last two weeks and with already saturated soil, the risk of landslides remains.
