The funding for these items was approximately $32,000.
Mr Tuitubou said he had visited these youth clubs towards the end of the last financial year and was pleased to show the ministry’s commitment to the development of Fiji’s youth population.
“All of you deserve these grant assistance according to the Eastern Division recommendations,” he said.
“The intention is to motivate and encourage young people through such assistance and to empower you to venture into entrepreneurial undertakings.
“We all know that the Eastern Division is a very challenging division to work in, mainly because of the geographical location and your isolation to major urban centres.
“But in the face of it all, you have determined to initiate income generating projects that will sustain you and your members despite the challenges I have mentioned.”
He encouraged the youths to become beacons of hope not only for their islands but also to the Eastern Division and Fiji as a whole.
“Therefore, as you receive this assistance from me today, you are also receiving government’s blessings and support,” he said.
“There are hopes that the youths will endeavor to multiply what has been given to them.”
