Two men arrested over Makoi bus driver attack

Two men have been arrested in connection with an attack on a bus driver in the Makoi area on the morning of 27 September 2025.

According to police, the suspects, along with others, boarded the bus and refused to pay their fare when confronted by the driver. They allegedly threatened the driver to take them to their destination. Upon arrival, the group reportedly assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene.

The two men were apprehended by the Nasinu Operations Team yesterday and are currently being questioned as part of an ongoing investigation.

Separately, police are also investigating claims of alleged inaction after the victim sought assistance from the Tuirara Community Post. The Internal Affairs unit has taken over this parallel inquiry to ensure accountability.

Police investigations remain ongoing.
